LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock County Grand Jury has indicted 31-year-old Matthew Lott for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and theft after a woman was seriously injured after a car chase in June.

On June 12, Aurelia Valdez was trying to sell her cell phone to Lott and another man. While the two were handing Valdez the money, she said she believed she was handed counterfeit bills and then tried to leave.

Valdez tried to take off in her vehicle but Lott got in his too and began to chase her at high speed. Police reported they saw both cars pass by and then saw Valdez's vehicle lose control, hit a tree then a house and finally come to a stop.

Lott was later arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation and aggravated assault.
