LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police are investigating dozens of vehicle burglaries that happened in the early morning hours Friday.

They say the break-ins began just after 5 a.m. Current estimate is at least 24 vehicles were broken into but officers are still working to determine the exact number.

Several of the cases involve vehicles that had windows broken by rocks or bricks to gain entry into the vehicles. There were also several vehicles that had been left unlocked. There have been purses, wallets, electronics and other personal items reported stolen during these vehicle burglaries. Some of the victims reported nothing stolen out of the vehicles.

LPD says their Crime Suppression Unit is actively investigating these break-ins. It appears they are related, and it's possible there are multiple suspects involved.

Investigators are asking community members in these areas to check their security cameras to see if any suspicious activity or vehicle burglaries were caught on camera.

Anyone with information or relevant video is asked to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
