LPD investigating string of vehicle burglaries in Southwest Lubbock
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Police Department says around two dozen vehicles were broken into in the early hours of Friday morning.
The string of burglaries happened in Southwest Lubbock at these addresses:
2900 block of 56th Street
3500 block of 57th Street
1900 block of 61st Street
3800 block of 61st Street
3600 block of 78th Drive
6000 block of 92nd Street
5800 block of 102nd Street
5700 block of 106th Street
5700 block of 109th Street
5700 block of 110th Street
5600 block of 111th Street
5600 block of 113th Street
LPD says some of the vehicles were left unlocked, while others had windows broken with bricks and rocks.
LPD says they began receiving reports of vehicle break-ins shortly after 5 a.m.
"Thank God I had the vehicles in the garage last night," said Richard Huey, a resident of Southwest Lubbock, said.
Days like this are why Huey says he has 13 security cameras.
"I have security cameras on my house just in case something ever happens to my yard, my house, my neighbor's house, or any of the kids in the neighborhood," Huey said. "That way I would have it on video."
Huey says police are welcome the video should a situation like this every happen to him.
"If they ever want to look at my cameras or my videos, they're welcome to it. That's what they're here for."
