(KCBD) - Your weekend plans may be impacted by some showers or storms this Labor Day weekend.
Rain is likely in the northwest South Plains late Saturday and may move eastward into the overnight hours.
Ahead of the rain the afternoon temps will be a little lower in the area, especially in the western South Plains where some highs may stay in the upper 80s with mid 90s still likely along and off of the Caprock.
By Sunday morning, more moisture will be in place and some AM showers possible.
Storms will increase in the afternoon across the area with a chance of storms extending from Sunday night into early Labor Day morning.
The chance of showers and some heavy storms will continue through the afternoon. So, if you're planning on grilling, keep an eye on the sky and check our weather app radar to keep an eye on the storms.
It will be cooler on Sunday with a high in the upper 80s and Monday's highs may stay in the low 80s for the area. Rain chances will continue in our forecast through Thursday of next week with below normal temps and some highs in the 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
