LITTLEFIELD, TX (KCBD) - The Arbor Grace Nursing Facility in Littlefield has tested positive for Legionella Bacteria within its interior water system.

Legionella Bacteria is known to cause Legionnairs' disease, which is a serious type of pneumonia, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It is also know to cause another, less serious illness, called Pontiac Fever.

The City of Littlefield reported there is no indication that the cause of this bacteria is from the city's water system, according to a city Facebook post.

Arbor Grace administration was able to report the problem was being fixed, but diverted other details on what is was doing with its residents to its corporate base. KCBD NewsChannel 11 has reached out to Arbor Grace Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation but no one was available to speak.

The city has informed the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality about the issue and will work to ensure the public is safe from the bacteria.

KCBD will update this story once more information becomes available.
