Crane hitting wire causes power outages in Idalou, Lorenzo, Lubbock, Ralls

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Update: The City of Idalou and Xcel Energy report that they were able to clear the crane away and restore power to the city as of 12:52 p.m.

Original Story: 11:58 a.m. Crews are responding to a power outage in the area of 7th Street and Pecan Street in Idalou. According to initial reports, they are working to repair a power pole.
A crane around the area was said to have been loading onto a semi-truck when it hit an electric pole, causing the power outage. The driver of the crane was stuck inside of the vehicle for a moment but was not harmed.
As of now there is no electricity running through the lines but the crane is still touching the wires.
Power to Idalou ISD is out, but school officials have no plans on cancelling classes as of now. Alerts and notices have been sent out to parents and guardians.
As of noon Wednesday, the Xcel Energy outage map shows at least 12 outages have been reported affecting more than 1,600 customers. The outage is affecting residents in Idalou, Lorenzo, Lubbock, and Ralls.
There is no timeline on when power will be restored to the affected areas.
