Lubbock police have captured a murder suspect at a home in North Lubbock. Our crews were on scene during the entire capture. NewsChannel 11's Nicole Pesecky has the story.
A warrant was issued shortly after midnight for the arrest 53 year old Jessie Herrera in the murder of Ruth Montez. The Lubbock swat team surrounded a home near Elgin Street and Emory Avenue. After multiple attempts to contact Herrera failed, the swat team decided to move in. They broke into the home at 4 a.m. and immediately took Herrera into custody.
Again, Herrara is the suspect in the murder of 41-year-old Refugio Avalos Montez, also known as Ruth. Police say the two got into an argument just after 6 p.m. while in separate cars. Herrara allegedly forced Montez's driver to pull over in the 600 block of Flint. Police say Montez got out of the car and that is when she was stabbed in the face and abdomen. She was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.
Again, Herrera was taken into custody at 4 a.m. Friday. We will continue to follow this story and bring you the very latest information.
