Most cardiologists say too much salt in the diet may contribute to high blood pressure, which is a major cause of heart disease. Now the American Heart Association has jumped on board. They are recommending that everyone should limit their sodium intake to less than 1,500 milligrams a day. That may sound like a lot, but most people consume more than 3,400 milligrams daily. A lot of that hidden in processed foods. The American Heart Association says after reviewing the latest research on this, it feels it's time to take a stand and encourage people to put down the salt since 76 million Americans are already struggling with high blood pressure.
