A young Texas woman with a rare disease is working to bring attention to a rare neuromuscular disease with a bike ride despite losing her ability to walk.
As a 20 year old, Emily Penn is coming to terms with a harsh reality, she's the losing the ability to walk.
During the past three years she's volunteered and has help raised money for a cycling event designed to raise awareness. But this year, Emily won't be on the sidelines. (sot: emily penn, friedreich's ataxia patient)
"I would have never in my wildest dreams think i would be bicycling" said Penn. (
With intense coaching, Emily is training to cycle 25 miles thru the streets.
According to Penn, "Its opened so many doors for me, it's such an incredible experience"
What is Emily's message to others?
"You have put yourself in the mindset of you can do it and you will."
