LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The first round is underway in the South region of weather.com's America's Toughest Weather City tournament.

Lubbock is matched up against San Antonio in the first round of online voting for the region, and a climate comparison tool highlights several of the differences between the two cities. While San Antonio is, on average, warmer and wetter than Lubbock, the Hub City owns the comparative record for the highest recorded temperature (114°F in 1994) and the lowest recorded temperature (-17°F in 1933)

First round voting continues through 3 a.m. CT Thursday.
