Nearly 2,000 people came out to watch South Plains students put two months of hard work to the test.
For the last eight weeks, freshmen Texas Tech engineering students spent time mentoring elementary and middle school students from across the South Plains as part of the Get Excited About Robotics program.
Students created teams that made robots out of Legos, with the help of their Tech mentors.
Hundreds of teams competed on Saturday to see whose robot could complete all of the tasks and look the best while doing it.
Event organizers said that while the groups did have fun, you could definitely feel the tension as they competed for first place.
