Legacy Play Village to reopen Friday morning

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Legacy Play Village will open Friday morning after volunteers picked up trash and crews made repairs to damaged structures this week.

It closed on Tuesday after parents expressed safety concerns about the condition of the equipment and trash in the area.

While it was closed, caretakers tell us someone vandalized the park, adding to the amount of work that needed to be done.

Fifteen volunteers helped get the park back in shape on Thursday. Another volunteer group is expected to come to the playground in two to three weeks for further repairs.

President of the Friends of the Legacy Play Village Craig Finlayson says the board of directors for the park will meet next week to discuss future changes.

He thanked the community for their patience and thanked the volunteers for all of the work they have done.

Finlayson says if you would like to volunteer at the playground you can email him at legacyplayvillage@att.net.
