Legacy Play Village reopens after repair, more repairs pending
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Families returned to the Legacy Play Village Friday morning after it was closed for repairs.
The park was officially closed for repair on Monday evening, but, when it reopened Friday morning, many problems still had not been fixed.
Craig Finlayson, president of Friends of the Legacy Play Village, says their first priority was to repair damage caused by recent vandalism.
Finlayson released this statement:
"The wood structure is showing its age and abundant usage, which requires constant maintenance from our volunteers. The ground maintenance is also a constant maintenance issue. Even though we have routine removal of trash from the receptacles, the ground trash removal relies on volunteer effort."
Finlayson says the park is in a state of almost constant repair and not every problem can be fixed immediately.
Still, many parents who bring their children to the park are pleased with the accommodations.
Robin Mcclure and Danielle Neudorf are moms who say their kids enjoy being at the Legacy.
"We come out here quite a bit and we love it and we've never had issues with kids getting hurt and it seems really safe to me." Mcclure said.
