HALE CENTER, TX (KCBD) - City leaders in Hale Center have appointed a new police chief. Brandon Richardson is a 9 year veteran of the department. The

Plainview Daily Herald

reports that Richardson was officially appointed to the position on Friday.

Richardson takes over the position from Dennis Burton. Burton had been serving as police chief and interim city manger since January, when former city manger Joshua Jones left. In May, the Hale Center City Council dropped interim from Burton's title. He officially moved into the city manager role on June 1st while still serving as police chief.

Burton tells the Herald that Richardson's appointment leaves the department down an officer, but they are already advertising the position.
