Firefighters give coats to Lubbock elementary students

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Tuesday, students at Wright Elementary in north Lubbock received a special gift. Members of the Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association (LPFFA) gave coats to each student at the school.
It's part of the 'Operation Warm' initiative.
"You just wouldn't believe some of these kids; some of them, this is the first time they've ever had anything brand new, and you can just see their face beam when they get that new coat," LPFFA Trustee Steve Holland said.
This is the third year that the LPFFA has donated coats to Lubbock students. In 2013, they donated to students at Guadalupe Elementary, and last year they donated to students at Jackson Elementary.
"Some of these kids come to class in t-shirts even during cold weather, because their families don't have coats for them. So, for a lot of these kids, it means a lot for them to end up with a new coat and to be able to come to school and be warm and have something that they can call their own," Holland said.
Donations are still being accepted for 'Operation Warm'. If you'd like to help, you can visit the LubbockFirefighters.org.
