LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Good Samaritan who was trying to help three people who needed a place to stay found himself being robbed at gunpoint on Sunday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m.

According to the police report, the three suspects were asking for money outside McDonalds at 5010 IH27, telling people they were looking for a place to stay the night.

The victim, a 53-year-old male, offered to lead them to a motel near his residence. The victim originally offered to lead them in his car, but the suspects asked him to get into their car and show them the way.

The victim got in the car with the suspects. Police say they drove to 1900 Kelsey Avenue, pointed a revolver at the victim and asked him to hand over everything he had. One of the suspects stole the victim's money, phone and driver's license, then ordered him out of the vehicle and fled the area eastbound on 19th.

The suspects, described as one white male and two white females, have not been located as of Sunday afternoon. Police believe the suspects may be panhandlers or may be impersonating panhandlers in the area of 50th and I-27, and may be driving a beige Chevrolet Tahoe.
