14-year-old drowns while swimming at Sandy Beach Park, police say
LAKE MILLS, Wis. (WMTV/Gray News) - A 14-year-old boy died after drowning in a lake at a park, police said.
A report for a missing swimmer came in around 3:20 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Beach Park, in Lake Mills, which is off of Rock Lake.
First responders searched the swimming area where the teen was last seen.
Lake Mills Dive Team members removed the teen from the water around 3:50 p.m. and attempted to save his life.
The police department said the swimmer, a 14-year-old boy from Madison, died at the park. His name was not released.
The Lake Mills Police Department is investigating.
Police said the teen was not wearing a life jacket when he was found.
The police department extended its condolences to the teen’s loved ones.
