Two indicted after leading police chase in U-Haul in March

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Two people accused of running from Lubbock authorities in a U-Haul truck have been indicted.

On Tuesday, a Lubbock grand jury indicted 41-year-old Erica Lee Stiggers and 36-year-old Romeo Thomas on multiple charges.

In March, a DPS trooper attempted to pull Stiggers and Thomas over for a traffic violation near the intersection of Hwy. 87 and 98th Street. Stiggers, who was driving, refused to stop the vehicle and drove away from the trooper, initiating a pursuit.

During the chase, a deputy with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office deployed a “tire deflation tool.” The left tires of the U-Haul were punctured and they deflated.

Stiggers finally stopped the vehicle in Lorenzo on Hwy. 62, where she and Thomas were arrested.

Stiggers was indicted on the following charges: evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information between five and 10 items.

Thomas was indicted on one count of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information between five and 10 items.
